Stephanie Keiko Kong is a Hawaii-based yoga educator who glorifies a deep synthesis of dedicated academia and booty-shaking fun.
As co-teacher, curriculum development expert, and primary teacher for the yogāsana and compassionate communication portions of the Heart of Sound, Stephanie’s many areas of expertise contribute profoundly to the quality of the training!
Her devotion and care (and straight-up super nerdiness!) with the blissful refined sounds of Sanskrit is evident throughout her teaching. Be prepared to learn more than you expect, fall in love with the Heart of Sound, and probably fall off your chair laughing at least once!
Stephanie holds eight certifications in yoga, functional movement, and energy healing. She co-leads the yoga teacher training program at Yoga Hawai‘i, teaches anatomy and kinesiology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, and performs as a vocalist in Honolulu (USA). She has a degree in pedagogy, a former mathematics teacher, and also happens to be an award-winning Shakespearean actor.
A major spine injury in 2004 served to turn Stephanie’s appreciation of yoga into profound respect and awe for its healing power, and the discovery of sound-based practice with the Heart of Sound has evolved into a driving force for her life of service.
Words about Stephanie from Heart of Sound RYT trainees:
“Anandra and her co-facilitator Stephanie are amongst the most dedicated, committed and sincere trainers that I have met. They work together to give mind, heart and soul to this training, and the personal growth that it can offer to each and every student.”
“Stephanie’s dedication, authenticity and gentle caring was palpable. I could feel secure just by her tone of voice that she knew what she was doing. She showed her vulnerability, brilliance, and so many sides!”
“I love Stephanie’s energy! Her humor, enthusiasm, and zest… yet she balances it with a calm, cool, groundedness. I love the way the yogāsana relates to our daily themes and I am really enjoying such a different view of yoga… going from the inside out (rather than trying to achieve a “perfect” shape).”
“I sooo enjoyed Stephanie’s ability to impart her knowledge of how to connect to my body. Giving me the ability to journey further within this body through love, appreciation, and awareness.”
